Parties & Events

One chef, one griddle, and a dinner that doubles as the entertainment. Here is what each kind of Connecticut party usually looks like — and what to think about before you pick a date.

Birthdays

Birthday Hibachi at Home

Our most-booked party, from first birthdays with grandparents at the table to milestone 40ths and 50ths with the whole street invited. The chef writes a birthday message in fried rice, puts the guest of honour in the middle of the show and hands out the sake gun once the kids have gone in.

  • Works best with 10–30 guests seated around one or two long tables
  • Kids under 13 eat the same meal at $30 a plate
  • Cake, decorations and playlist stay yours — we only take over the cooking
  • Plan roughly 90 minutes for dinner service

Graduations

Graduation Parties

Late May through June is the busiest stretch on our Connecticut calendar — high school and UConn graduation weekends book months ahead. Hibachi solves the classic graduation problem: a yard full of relatives who all arrive at once and a host who wants to actually talk to them.

  • Above 30 guests we switch to buffet style at $40 per person to keep service moving
  • Two seatings work well when the guest list spans the afternoon
  • Tables, chairs, plates and utensils can be rented at $15 per person
  • Book early — graduation Saturdays are the first dates to go

Bachelorette & engagement

Bachelorette Parties & Engagements

Heart-shaped fried rice, the sake gun, a bride in a veil holding the sake gun, and a group photo nobody had to leave the house for. It is the easiest way to give a bachelorette weekend one proper sit-down dinner without a restaurant reservation for fourteen people.

  • Great fit for Airbnb and lake-house weekends — give us the rental address
  • Sake service included for guests 21 and over
  • Add filet mignon or lobster plates for the guest of honour
  • Evening slots run right up to 10:00 PM

Every Other Kind of Party

Family Reunions

Three generations, one table, one meal. Grandparents get salmon and scallops, the kids get chicken and fried rice, and nobody is stuck in the kitchen while everyone else catches up.

Corporate & Team Events

Client dinners, summer team cookouts and holiday parties at a home, office lot or rented venue. We invoice cleanly and can serve buffet style for larger headcounts.

Holiday Parties

Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving weekend and New Year's Eve. Outdoor cooking works in cold weather too — a tent, garage opening or covered patio is all the chef needs.

Vacation Rentals & Lake Houses

Shoreline rentals, Litchfield lake houses and family cottages. Send the rental address rather than your home address, and flag anything tight about parking or access.

Kids' Parties

The fire show is the entertainment budget. Kids' plates are $30, portions are smaller, and the chef keeps the flames on his side of the griddle.

Just Because

A Friday with friends, a neighbourhood block dinner, a Sunday with the in-laws. Any excuse counts as long as the food total reaches the $500 minimum.

Planning notes

Getting the Setup Right

Four things decide whether a party runs smoothly. Sort these out when you book and the rest takes care of itself.

Where the Grill Goes

A level outdoor spot with working room in front and space for guests to watch safely. Patios, decks, driveways and garage openings all work.

Timing

The chef arrives 10–20 minutes before your booked time. Dinner service typically runs about 90 minutes from first plate to last.

Weather Plan

A tent, garage, porch or covered patio keeps the party on schedule. Tell us if the forecast turns and we will talk it through before the day.

Seating

Guests seated around the griddle get the best view. If you are short on furniture, rent tables, chairs, plates and utensils at $15 per person.
